The Dual Challenge: Anisometropia and Antimetropia
When an eyeglass prescription shows a difference of 1.00 Diopter or greater between the right and left eyes, the clinical condition is termed Anisometropia. In extreme cases—termed Antimetropia—one eye is nearsighted (minus power) while the other eye is farsighted (plus power).
Patients attempting to wear standard budget glasses with unequal powers experience chronic disorientation, headaches, and depth perception distortions caused by two distinct optical laws:
- Aniseikonia (Unequal Retinal Image Sizes): Spectacle magnification differs between the two lenses.
